What’s the rush?

What’s the rush ? That’s what I find myself asking quite frequently when I watch edits/posts online recently. I don’t know if it’s a race to get caught up but the difference between pros and everyone else is pretty much blurred nowadays anyway, but when everyone is so good surely it takes that refinement of your style/tricks/bike/spot choice even crashing to set you apart.

Whenever I see someone consistently do opposite manuals cleanly I know they are time served. It’s just one of those tricks that comes with years of practise/repetition. What I am trying to get at is take time, take the time to make the trick feel really good when you do it as ultimately then it will look as equally pleasing to watch.

That’s the reason certain tricks are synonymous with certain people e.g Gerry and inverts, Taj and tailwhips, Gouin and decades etc

Everything’s been done previously anyway, as Shirley Bassey sang “It’s all just a little bit of history repeating” I don’t care if you add four barspins in/during/out of the trick it’s all the same. So why not take the time to make it your own ? Take it from someone who’s been riding 23 years now it’s those people you remember.

And equally we have a responsibility to speak up when we see these violations take place. It didn’t wash with my elders and that salt filled baton now falls in my lap and I intend to scorn and in turn constructively critique until the message sinks in.

Ride On….just not on the cranks
